Today is November 30th, and with it comes several notable items:  payday (always a hit in my house!), the final descent into both the end of another semester and the Christmas season, and the end of NaBloPoMo.  While payday, the end of the semester and the approach of Christmas are all things that cheer me, I’m not quite sure how I feel about the fact that I don’t have to post everyday.

Part of me is relieved – when you’re as boring as I am, finding something interesting to say everyday is daunting.  And I realize there were times this month when I wasn’t interesting – probably more often than I want to admit!  There are days when I’m busy or sick and really don’t want to take the time to blog.

I do, however, like the daily routine of it.  I rely on routine to make my life work.  And repetition creates routine.  But if I skip one day, then it’s very simple to make excuses the next day, and the next, and the next until it’s been several weeks since I’ve posted anything new.  I don’t think I will be posting every day, but I am hoping that my NaBloPoMo experience will encourage me to add something new a bit more often than I used to.

I suppose I should get back to work – oh, and for any of you who know me outside of this blog, I am finishing my Christmas cards tonight.  Look for yours in the near future!

Well, I’m back at work today.  Can’t say that I’m terribly pleased or excited about it, but here I sit.  Having not done much the past couple of days, I didn’t realize how much energy it takes to sit in front of a computer, read emails, and answer a few questions.  It’s just after 2 o’clock and I am completely wiped out!  I can’t wait for 4:30 so I can go home and catch a nap before Chad gets home for supper.  I should be wrapping gifts (I’m done Christmas shopping!), addressing envelopes for Christmas cards and cutting pieces for my last Christmas order (which the buyer doesn’t get until it’s completely paid for) this evening, but I’m needing a nap with the dog, supper, and an early bedtime.  I think the needs will win out over the should bes.

I suppose I should get back to work – one more day of NaBloPoMo!

I am slowly finding my way out of the sea of snot, river of used tissues, and haze of head/body aches.  I am upright and moving today – albeit at a snail’s pace.  I have accomplished a few small tasks today (I just finished the Christmas tree!) so I feel that I am returning to the land of the living.  I really want a nap, but I’m trying to stay busy until when I would normally get home from work before I crash in an attempt to put my mind and body back on a normal schedule.  I’ve been off work for a week now (Thanksgiving holiday and sick), so I’m afraid to see my inbox and my desk, but I can’t hide from them forever.  Barring any major relapses, I should be well enough to go back tomorrow.  I think Chad will be glad to see me go.

This cold just won’t go away.  Chad went out over his lunch break yesterday and got our Christmas tree – now if only I could find the energy to decorate it!  We managed to get the lights on it last night after supper, but that’s about it.

Well, I’m off to nap on the couch with the dog.

A wicked cold virus has taken residence in my body, settling in both my head and chest.  Sleep was almost non-existant last night so this morning Chad made an executive decision and called me in sick to work.  I’ve attempted to sleep all morning propped up in bed and now I’m on my way to see if the couch makes sleeping any better.

I’m off – hope everyone has a good Monday.

We’re home again.  I’m not feeling well, so I’m going to keep this short.  Hope everyone had wonderful holiday weekends!

I realize that many people went shopping yesterday – I’m not one of those people.  I hate large crowds of people.  Especially. When. Shopping.  I’ve been known to do my grocery shopping (at either W*l-M*rt or HyVe*) at 7 am on a Saturday just to avoid the crowds.  So Mom and I do our Christmas shopping (well, I finish mine – I’m just a couple of gifts short) on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend every year.  There are still some sales available and, for awhile anyway, the crowds aren’t too bad.  By the end of the day it can be a bit hectic, but nothing we can’t handle.

Well, we’re off – Happy Saturday everyone!

Every year my parents go out to one of their pastures and cut a cedar tree to bring into the house and decorate for Christmas. The smell is fabulous and why pay for a tree when you can get one for free?

When I was in college, Mom started getting the Christmas tree during Thanksgiving weekend so that I could help decorate it before I went back to school. Now that I’m married, but still living 200+ miles away, she continues to get her tree early (when we were little tree went up the first weekend in December) so that I can decorate it. I had called about something else last weekend, but Mom made sure to tell me that she has her tree all picked out. She sent the guys out to get it this morning.

I guess I’m decorating Mom’s tree today and my own next week when we get it. It’s standing in a pasture with a red flag on it, just waiting for a date with the chain saw. Chad & I picked it out a couple of weeks ago – just like my family did when we were kids.

Happy Thanksgiving!  We’re up early to leave for my parents’ house and dinner with my extended family.  I had planned a nice post about all that I’m thankful for, but I just don’t have the time to post it!

Have a wonderful holiday, filled with too much food and lots of love.  And don’t forget to watch some football – Go Huskers!

Last night was a bust.  Food is ready for the next couple of days and laundry is done, but the quilts are not ready to go and I haven’t packed a thing for the weekend.  Guess it’s going to be a late night tonight.  We have dinner with Chad’s family and then we’ll rush home to get things finished up.  Looks like I’ll be taking this afternoon off of work to work on the quilts.
