I meant to put a Christmas message up before we left for Mom & Dad’s for the holiday, but as you can see, it just didn’t get done. I plumb ran out of time. The holiday was nice, though. We’re home – obviously, as Mom & Dad don’t have internet access yet – and in the midst of unpacking everything. It’s kind of nice to be able to come home with less stuff than we left with. I’m guessing I’d better get back to it!
What did Santa bring everyone? Were you all naughty or nice?
Also, Happy Birthday Dad!
Happy Holidays from snowy northeast Nebraska! We’re expecting snow again today, although it’s not supposed to be any measureable amount. It could be a very long winter if we have snow on the ground from now until April Fool’s Day.
The whirlwind of holiday celebrations and travel begins today. Really, it probably started a couple of weeks ago with events at work, but the family and friend celebrations are what really count in my book. Chad and I (and our almost 5 year old dog) celebrated Christmas last night by opening our presents. Well, most of them anyway. Chad still has one to open (or at least see), but it’s at my parents’ house, so it will have to wait a couple of days. I may be mean and make him wait until Christmas Day! Today I’m doing laundry and starting to pack for the 200+ mile trek south to my parents’ house. Tonight is dinner and a gift exchange with Chad’s extended family. It will be a loud rowdy crowd, but it’s always a good time. Tomorrow we will travel south and then are celebrating with a neighbor who is more like family than just a friend. Monday is Christmas Eve and a quiet day for catching up with my brother, his fiance, and my parents. We’ll probably do a bit of cooking for Christmas too, and there is church that evening. Christmas Day we’ll stay home and just hang out, probably playing with our new “toys” and then we have supper with the whole group of Bauschs and a gift exchange. Wednesday is Dad’s birthday and travelling home so that Chad can go back to work on Thursday.
Whew! That makes me tired just typing it! I guess I’d better get busy and get some laundry done. Merry Christmas everyone and I’ll see you after we get home!
It seems like just yesterday I was writing my last NaBloPoMo post. Now here we are in the middle of December, just mere days away from Christmas! Lots has happened since my last post, so let’s get updated.
- Back in November I shared 3 pictures and asked for opinions, but neglected to tell what I was doing. This photograph ended up as our Christmas cards this year. I am so pleased with them!
- Quilt orders are all filled. I have one quilt that didn’t quite get finished, but the customer won’t be paying for it until later, so I have some time. I’ll work on it while I’m off of work over the holidays.
- Christmas gifts are all purchased, wrapped, tagged, and under the tree, waiting patiently to be ripped into by various friends and loved ones. I’m very excited about one gift in particular, but I can’t tell you about it (just in case Chad reads this). I’ll post pictures once it’s safe.
- All of the Christmas goodies have been baked (with the help of my good friend Ashley!), plated and delivered. Chad and I spent Sunday afternoon driving around the area playing Santa. Instead of toys, we dropped off platters of cookies, brownies, bars, and fudge to all of the single/divorced/widowed guys we know. It’s a tradition that I brought with me when I married Chad. It’s one of his favorite events of the season.
That’s pretty much what I’ve done since you last heard from me (well, that and work!). The clock says it’s time to go home and I need to get going.
