Hot & Humid

Both outside and inside my house! We’re in the midst of actually installing the replacement windows we bought earlier in the summer. While the new windows are wonderful – so nice to look out and easy to open!!!- the process of getting them installed is getting a bit tedious. Don’t get me wrong – we hugely appreciate the help in getting them in (thanks Shawn & Lea!!), but it hasn’t been as easy as it was supposed to be. We don’t know if the measurements we had (provided by a window salesman) were a little off, or our old windows were a little different than he assumed, or what else could have cause it, but all of the new windows are roughly 2 inches too wide for the existing openings. Not a huge problem, but a bit messy to fix – sawdust and plaster dust everywhere. Of course, it takes longer to install each window so less gets done each evening.

This weather is causing our house to get extremely warm and humid and stay that way. The air conditioners just can’t keep up unless we leave them on 24/7. It does provide a bit of entertainment, though; we can sit and watch the numbers on the electric meter spin. Kinda like watching a slot machine, but we’re waiting for ours to stop.

This heat wave is not encouraging me to sew either. Who wants a lap full of fabric when it’s this hot?? I’m trying to work on small projects, but those aren’t going to last forever and I have a couple of bigger ones with deadlines rapidly approaching.

Well, I should get back to work. Hope everyone is staying cool!
